This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of the principles of manual handling. It is designed to raise awareness of the risks associated with unsafe manual handling practices and to promote safe manual handling techniques in the workplace.

Course Overview

Over a half-day period, learners will develop their knowledge of manual handling, including:

Common manual handling injuries and their causes
Manual handling laws and the responsibilities of employers and employees
Stages involved in a manual handling risk assessment
Safe movement principles associated with manual handling, including the body's musculoskeletal system, centre of gravity, and lever system
Theory of safe manual handling principles, including preparing for a lift, solo lifting, carrying and lowering an object, and team manual handling
Manual handling equipment: types of manual handling aids and equipment, maintenance, and requirements for testing

Please note that this qualification does not include practical sessions. Those requiring practical training should undertake the Qualsafe Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling (RQF).
