Course description

Substance misuse can have a serious impact on workplace safety, employee health, productivity, and reputation. This Drug and Alcohol Awareness course raises understanding of how drug and alcohol misuse affects individuals and organisations, helping staff recognise warning signs, respond appropriately, and support a safe and compliant work environment.

Whether due to stress, addiction, or recreational habits, substance misuse contributes to accidents, absenteeism, disciplinary issues, and legal risk. Early intervention and awareness training can reduce incidents and improve the overall wellbeing and performance of employees.

This course, developed by health and safety specialists at SEITECH International, equips learners with knowledge of substances, symptoms of misuse, legal responsibilities, and best practices for handling concerns in the workplace.

It aligns with UK health and safety legislation including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, and guidance from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and ACAS.
