Course description

Accidents, injuries, and work-related ill-health can be significantly reduced through effective risk assessments. This course provides learners with the foundational awareness and confidence to identify hazards, evaluate risks, and apply practical control measures. Learners will also gain a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities in creating a safer, legally compliant workplace. Realistic examples and scenario-based learning support the development of essential safety skills across all industries.

Risk assessments are not just legal obligations — they are essential tools for protecting lives and minimising harm. Whether physical, chemical, ergonomic, or psychological hazards, unmanaged risks can lead to serious consequences for employees and businesses. This course outlines how to approach risks systematically using the HSE's recognised 5-step model.

This course, developed by experienced HSE consultants at SEITECH International, aims to build practical awareness of how to spot potential hazards, assign risk ratings, apply the hierarchy of control, and support a proactive safety culture in any organisation.

It aligns with UK legislation including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and guidance from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
